POSITION TITLE: Product Development Manager

POSITION MANAGER: Director of Product Development

REQUIREMENTS:

  • College education.  3+ years of work experience in the hospitality industry, preferred. 
  • Impeccable writing skills.  Superior communication skills. Flexibility is a must.
  • Must be highly organized and creative.
  • Must be fluent in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. 

Familiarity with database programs, Vivien and Adobe Photoshop a plus.

  • Must be a self-starter and possess a positive, customer focused work ethic for a fast-paced and growing company.  Deadline oriented, driven.  Multi-tasking skills essential.
  • Prior DMC experience is helpful, but not required.

JOB OBJECTIVE:                       
Develop logistically sound and creatively written program proposals. Ensuring each proposal is accurate and cost effective. Development and enhance vendor relationships and consistently look for new and creative ways to maintain our competitive advantage in the marketplace.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proposals must be developed and delivered within an assigned time frame.
  • Effectively manage and maintain a profitable margin percentage for each program.
  • Maintain supplier database and insure accuracy of information related to costs, availability of sites, attractions and menus.
  • Establish and consistently update a complete tariff.
  • Effectively manage vendor relationship by selecting appropriate venues for each program, negotiate pricing and monitoring all vendor and venue availability.
  • Assist sales managers with creative ideas in support of clients needs.
  • Research and identify industry trends, new vendor and venues for GEP Washington and effectively communication new information to GEP Washington team via meetings and internal communications.
  • Develop and write content for quarterly e-newsletter.
  • Consistently update the GEP Washington website.
  • Maintain involvement /memberships in industry associations, and attend industry conferences and networking events.
  • Recognize and always be prepared to negotiate with vendors and or venues.
  • Work with the Sales and Operations department to successfully manage the needs of the company’s customers in order to meet the objectives of the company’s overall goals.
  • Conduct or participate in client site inspections as needed.
